Kaba Kaba Village
Nestled in the lush Tabanan Regency in southwest Bali, Kaba-Kaba Village reflects the island's rich heritage. Founded in the 14th century by Arya Belog, one of 11 Aryans accompanying Sri Kresna Kepakisan, the first King of ancient Bali, it became the capital of the Kaba-Kaba Kingdom during the Majapahit occupation in 1343 AD.
Known as "Bali’s rice bowl," Kaba-Kaba’s verdant rice paddies highlight its agricultural and cultural traditions. The village features a 14th-century shrine predating the Majapahit court and the Kaba-Kaba Palace, a living museum showcasing intricate carvings, pavilions, and historic relics.
Visitors can explore the Subak irrigation system, a unique Balinese water management practice, or learn the craft of making the sacred Kris dagger. Conveniently located along the Denpasar-Gilimanuk road and just an hour from Ngurah Rai International Airport, Kaba-Kaba is easy to access by car, motorcycle, or bus. Tourists can enjoy year-round vibrant rice field views and visit Puri Gede Kaba-Kaba, showcasing original Majapahit architecture and ancient lontar manuscripts that unveil Tabanan's history. Kaba-Kaba offers various cultural activities such as cycling, Balinese cooking classes, and traditional food and beverage preparation. From historical sites to immersive traditions, the village captures Bali’s vibrant past and present.
